Even though he started his acting career more than a decade ago, until last year, Drew Starkey was known only to fans of the series Outer Banks, where he plays a leading role.
In Queer, Starkey plays Eugene, a young student who catches the attention of the disillusioned William (Daniel Craig, in a drastic career shift after dedicating 15 years to the James Bond franchise) in 1950s Mexico, making the older man hope he can finally build a deep connection with someone.
Starkey will star alongside Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga) in the Apple TV+ miniseries Lucky, which also features Annette Bening and Timothy Olyphant.
Inspired by Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel of the same name, Lucky centers on Taylor-Joy’s character, a young woman trying to leave behind a troubled adolescence spent on the wrong side of the law. But to do so, she must pull off one last major heist. Starkey plays her husband, Cary, her right-hand man in executing the robbery.
