A judge from the Los Angeles Superior Court approved their divorce settlement on January 6 and stated that it would take effect on February 21, after the required six-month period in California since Lopez filed for the dissolution of their two-year marriage. According to the document, the two reached a mediated agreement in September, thus avoiding a prolonged court battle that other celebrity couples have faced.
Lopez is now dropping Affleck from her legal name. Most financial details have been kept private, but neither of the two stars will pay spousal support to the other, and they have no children together, so custody is not an issue.
The superstar couple married in July 2022. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024. The filing stated that they had separated more than a year earlier.
This was their second time as a couple. In the early 2000s, they met, fell in love, got engaged, and starred together in the movies Gigli and Jersey Girl in 2004. They broke up the same year, partly blaming public pressure.
However, they reunited two decades later and got married.
Affleck divorced Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children, in 2018. Lopez has been married four times and has twin children with singer Marc Anthony.
